Grant: Essential support for vulnerable families

During the last week of Ramadan we supported MOMS NGO to distribute essential supplies to 10 vulnerable families including 48 children. We supported this activity through a Grant. We are happy that the work was completed during the blessed month of Ramadan. The activity was part of their “Help a Family this Ramadan” campaign. Five packages were distributed to families in Male’ and five to families in the Atolls.

May Allah bless our donors for this Sadaqah on their behalf.

MCF Ramazan Art Contest 2021 Winners

The MCF Ramazan Art Contest 2021 was run during the month of Ramazan 1442 with the intention of creating an interest in the Quran and to enable children to do an interesting activity with their parents. Participants had to submit a poster or artwork on the topic of “The importance of giving Sadaqah in Islam and it’s rewards”. Each poster had to have a Verse from the Quran related to the topic with the Dhivehi translation.

It is our hope that the Entrants, their families and supporters learned about the importance given to giving charity on a regular basis in Islam and also the immeasurable rewards that are promised by God for those who spend their wealth for the benefit of others.

The Winners of the contest were selected through a lucky draw with each Entry getting one Lot and each 10 Likes to the Entry getting an additional Lot in the draw. We are grateful to our sponsors Tea Tree Pvt Ltd and Ainie’s Wall Decor for their contributions towards sponsoring the Prizes. First Waqf Fund established

Alhamdulillah. Our first Waqf Fund has been established as a General Investment Account of the Maldives Islamic Bank. The principal invested amount in the Waqf Fund will remain invested and the profits from the investment will be used to provide aid and assistance to those in need and for other activities of the Maldivian Community Foundation. Since the principal amount will always be re-invested, the Waqf fund will be a source of Sadagah for the donors in continuity.

This Waqf fund has been established with 50% of the donations of 37 individual donors and 3 Legacy Funds that have been established by families in the name of their loved ones who have passed away.

Abu Mas’ud reported: A man came with a bridled camel and he said,
“This is in the way of Allah.”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,
You will have for it seven hundred camels on the Day of Resurrection; each of them will be bridled.
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)

While the average person may not have the means to give Sadagah in large quantities or establish large Waqf funds, our combined efforts can create a source of benefit and reward for our Hereafter, In Sha Allah.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked,
“O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Which charity is the most superior in reward?”
He (ﷺ) replied,
“The charity which you practice while you are healthy, niggardly and afraid of poverty and wish to become wealthy. Do not delay it to the time of approaching death and then say, ‘Give so much to such and such, and so much to such and such.’ And it has already belonged to such and such (as it is too late).”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)

May Allah enable us to practice charity regularly and reward us for our efforts.

Social Support Grant 1/2021

Alhamdulillah, our first Grant for NGOs is open for applications. This is possible only through the generous contributions of our donors. May Allah Bless all of them for their charity and effort. The Grant is targeted toward meeting the needs of two very vulnerable segments of our society; orphans and persons with disabilities. This Cause is something that is very close to the hearts of our donors and our team at MCF.

Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
“Myself and the caretaker of an orphan will be in Paradise like this,”
and he held his two fingers together.
Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5659

This Grant is the result of just a few months of donations from our donors. We hope to open further grant opportunities on other focus areas with the continued support of our existing donors and new donors who join us in future.

May Allah bless all of us for our efforts.

Those who believe and do righteous deeds: joy awaits these, and their final homecoming will be excellent.’
(Quran 13:29)

The deadline for submission of proposals is 31 March 2021.
