Projects for investing in 2024

We at MCF give priority to projects that would be long-lasting. Projects such as the Orphanage and Madrasah in Bangladesh, Digital Notice Board at Ihavandhoo School or the renovation of a mosques can be expected to benefit the community in the longterm, In Sha Allah.

We have identified two further projects that we would like to implement. The projects have been identified after discussion with the communities in Bangladesh.

Building a modern mosque

The current mosque is made of tin roof and walls, which makes it very hot during the summer period. The other facilities such as ablusion is also rudimentary and inconvenient. We would like to support to build a cement structure of the mosque and expand it to accomodate more people at the same time.

The mosque is located on a high-traffic road and frequestly used by commuters. It is also used to hold Quran classes for children in the neighbourhood.

Building the boundary wall of local cemeraty in Bangladesh

This project has been identified as a high-priority by the community. This cemetary is used by several villages in the area. Due to lack of a boundary wall on one side, wild animals desecrate the bodies after they are buried. The family members have to cover the burial area with cages to prevent the animals from digging the burial spots. This is an emotional stress to the family members who have just lost a loved one.

The project is to build the barrier wall and gate of the cemetary.

We request our donors to help us implement these projects. May Allah enable you and bless your generosity in helping the muslim brothers and sisters in Bangladesh to meet their needs.

Maldivian Community Foundation

The Maldivian Community Foundation (MCF) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation registered at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment of the Maldives (reg. no. CR/158/2019), and registered as a tax exempt organisation at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority. Its mission is to enable individuals, communities and partners to sustainably administer their charitable and philanthropic aspirations. It does this through the management of donated funds and disbursement of grants, scholarships and financial aid. We aim to follow the well-established community foundation model, tweaking it to the Maldivian context, and thereby positioning ourselves as the premier fundraising and grant making organisation in the country. We plan to provide tools and instruments for the Maldivian community to partake in perpetual charity (sadagah jariyah) and philanthropy, and support the non-governmental sector by providing grants and technical assistance. We would also be working closely with the government and national development partners to strengthen the governance and accountability of the non-profit sector.
